Free breakfast for men and boys!

Some of our Young Life leaders have been going to the men’s breakfast at First Baptist Church for years. It’s a chance to sit down over a good meal, catch up, and get to know people.

You’re welcome to come along with us, your dad, or another family member. If it’s your first time, let one of our leaders know and we’ll save you a seat.

There’s no cost and no pressure to say anything. Come eat and enjoy the company!

A SHARED VISION FOR DAWSON CREEK

Be part of someone's story.

Good company. Shared purpose. A place for you.

A coffee after school. A camp adventure. A team quietly making it all possible. Young Life grows through people who care about teenagers and want them to know they belong. Here in Dawson Creek, we're looking for Volunteer Leaders and Committee Members to help more young people experience friendship, encouragement and the love of Jesus.

HELP BUILD THE FOUNDATION

Committee Members

You don't have to lead a game or spend every Friday with teenagers to make a lasting difference. Our committee brings adults together to pray, care for our leaders, connect with supporters and help Young Life grow strong roots in Dawson Creek.

What could I bring to the team?

Committee Chair: help people find their part, encourage the Area Director and keep our shared vision moving.
Prayer Coordinator: bring people together to faithfully pray for our teens, leaders and community.
Financial Manager: caring for the budget and keeping the team informed of our current financial stability.

Donor Care: build friendships with supporters and help them feel thanked, informed and involved with our ministry work.
Banquet Coordinator: help create a memorable evening that brings our community together and raises support for our teens.
Communications Coordinator: share the stories, the updates and help more people discover what's happening.

Do you love organizing, welcoming people or encouraging someone behind the scenes? There are ways to help with meeting notes, community connections and leader care too. These are just examples of how a committee can serve. Reach out and let's chat more about it!

Find a commitment that fits

We ask Committee Members to commit with us for two years, giving your role and our team time to grow. If that feels like a big step, let's talk about a shorter starting term that feels comfortable. We are definitely willing to work with you.

You'll be asked to join regular monthly meetings and take on a part you can make your own, with support and training along the way. As you get to know the people and discover what you enjoy about your role, we can review it and talk about what are strengths, weaknesses, dislikes and likes to ensure you're exploring and growing the gifts God blessed you with.

SHOW UP IN A TEEN'S WORLD

Volunteer Leaders

Be someone a teenager is glad to see! (I just love that - and it feels even better when you experience it!) Learn their name, laugh with them, listen to their stories and keep showing up!! Consistency is key! As a Young Life leader, you share everyday life with teens and help them discover Jesus through a friendship that has no strings attached. It's a blessed opportunity for Life on Life mentorship through an Incarnational Ministry.

Share life, laughs and faith

Some days it's Tim Hortons, a bite at Burger King or Wendy's after school, or cheering from the sidelines. Other days it's listening when life feels heavy! We call this contact work: meeting teens in their world and building trust through ordinary moments together. It's about living life alongside your teenagers. It's not about disrupting or finding the time - it's about taking them alongside you, while you live out your life.

You'll help bring Club and Hangouts to life, open the Bible and explore questions at Campaigners, and share camp experiences that become favourite stories. You don't need to be the loudest person in the room. A steady presence, a listening ear and a willingness to join in matter too.

Make room for relationships

You don't need a polished talk or all the answers to get started. Bring a growing faith in Jesus, a teachable attitude and a heart for teenagers. You'll learn alongside a team, with training, prayer and people to turn to as you grow into the role.

Real friendships take time. A leader role can involve around 7-14 hours a week with teens and the team, plus camp and training. We normally ask for two years so those relationships have room to grow. Let's talk about the weekly rhythm, your availability and what sharing life with teens could look like for you.

Where could I help locally?

Young Life: walk alongside high school students in Grades 9-12 through friendships, Club, Hangouts, Campaigners and camp.

WyldLife: help us rebuild a volunteer leadership team for Grades 6-8. The program is currently paused. If you enjoy the energy and curiosity of middle schoolers, let's talk about helping bring it back.

Club Buddies: help our Capernaum friends take part alongside everyone else. Equipped leaders offer support where needed so young people feel seen, included and part of the group.

Your first step is a conversation.

Criminal record check: all Volunteer Leaders must complete one.
Driving: if you're able and willing to drive, we'll also need a driver's abstract.
Community Contact Work: we'll have additional applications available for opportunities at schools and centres such as The Ark and Nawican Youth.

We'll start by getting to know you, hearing what draws you to Young Life and talking through a role that fits. Then we'll walk with you through the applications, checks, training and arrangements needed before you begin. Asking a question doesn't commit you to a role. Please reach out!

Let's find your fit.

Maybe you're ready to jump in. Maybe you're just wondering whether there's a place for you. Either way, we'd love to hear from you! Occasional help with rides, snacks, drinks and hosting is welcome too!! Tell us what you enjoy and what your availability looks like.

STAND WITH US IN PRAYER

Will you pray with us?

It started with a prayer.

Young Life began with prayer, and it continues with prayer. Our Dawson Creek story also began with people praying together. Today, we're inviting you to stand faithfully with our team and our teenagers.

Prayer is at the heart of our shared vision: caring for young people, building friendships and sharing the Christian faith. We need a prayer team who will keep lifting up this work, week after week.
